How satisfied are you with the ability to get the information you require on the environmental performance of your building?

There is greater awareness about EPCs, largely due to legislation, but obtaining detailed information can be a struggle for some occupiers

There is greater awareness about EPCs, largely due to legislation 'I am satisfied with the information on the environmental performance of our buildings. It is improving because of press campaigns and the direct input of the government.'

'This is easier now there is legislation requiring Energy Performance Certificates.'
But obtaining detailed information can be a struggle for some 'This is a long and difficult process. The model is still problematic.'

'It's not that easy. Everyone has been trained on EPCs but trying to pull the information out is poor.'

'We have had a struggle to get EPCs on some of our buildings. We have had to wait a very long time.'

'We can't get the information. Landlords are supposed to supply an EPC on every purchase. It's the law but we can't get them. It's a low priority and people doing disposals haven't thought about it.'
Some believe that there is a lack of expertise 'It's difficult to extract the information that you need from the people who are advising you. There is too much confusion and a lack of clarification.'

'The problem is that the availability of people with the right skills to get the information is limited.'

'There has been a lot of confusion with Energy Performance Certificates and there isn't a lot of expertise.'
Some landlords are more proactive than others about providing EPCs 'Landlords have to do this in terms of marketing the building and they are more aware of this now.'

'Our major landlord is British Land which has a green department. They are keen to show that they are taking positive steps.'
Many obtain the information themselves 'We have our own environmental assessors and have had no problem accessing this information.'

'It's easy to get the data. We go to outside professionals to do the calculations.'
Some question the value of EPCs 'It is a complete waste of time and of very limited value. It won't change our decisions on acquiring a property if everything else is right.'

'EPCs only benefit the government, so that they are perceived as enforcing green principles.'

'It strikes me that the report you get back is quite limiting. I don't believe that you get a true picture.'
Some find EPCs too expensive 'It's very easy to get but it's horrendously, ridiculously expensive.'

'EPCs are a completely ridiculous requirement and at £350-500 per certificate, a total waste of money.'
